Formation of porous silver by electrochemical alloying/dealloying in a water-insensitive zinc chloride-1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride ionic liquid

Article Abstract:

The formation of a porous silver surface by a convenient two-step process involving electrochemical formation of a binary silver-zinc alloy film on a silver surface followed by electrochemical etching of the zinc from the alloy is described. The results have showed that zinc(II) species in the ionic liquid (IL) was consumed during the electrodeposition step but was recovered during the electrochemical dealloying step, making the IL reusable.

Electrochemistry at conductor/insulator/electrolyte three-phase interlines: A thin layer model

Article Abstract:

A thin layer model is proposed to assist in the understanding of the electrochemical conversion of insulator to conductor at the conductor/insulator/electrolyte three-phase interline (3PI) when the influence of mass diffusion in the electrolyte phase is negligible. The model predicts, under potentiostatic conditions, a linear variation of the current or the length of the 3PI with time.

Thin-layer electrochemistry of 1,3-diferrocenyl-2-buten-1-one: direct correlation between driving force and liquid/ liquid interfacial electron transfer rates

Article Abstract:

A novel electron transfer system, in which 1,3-diferrocenyl-2-buten-1-one (DFcB), an alpha, beta-unsaturated ketone with two electrochemically nonequivalent ferrocenyl substituents, serves as the redox complex in the organic phase, is presented. The key advantage of this system and its features are discussed.
