Hydrodynamics of nearly smooth granular gases
Article Abstract:
Hydrodynamic equations of motion for a monodisperse collection of nearly smooth homogeneous spheres are derived from the corresponding Boltmann equations using Chapman-Enskog expansion around the elastic smooth spheres limit. The required hydrodynamic fields include in addition to the standard density, velocity, and translational granular temperature fields the infinite set of number densities corresponding tot he continuum of values of the angular velocities.

Hydrodynamic size and charge of polyelectrolyte complexes
Article Abstract:
Primary complexes of poly(diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) and poly(styrene sulfonate) are investigated and the hydrodynamic radii are determined from the diffusion coefficients by using Einstein equation. The analysis has shown that the hydrodynamic size of the primary complex is smaller than that of the pure polyelectrolyte of the larger molecular weight as the charges are compensated by the oppositely charged polyelectrolyte.

Electric field manipulation of charged copolymer worm micelles
Article Abstract:
Minipulation of diblock copolymer worm micelles by external electric fields is visualized by fluorescence microscopy in dilute, aqueous solution. Hydrodynamic coupling of the poly(acrylic acid)-(1,4)-polybutadiene (PAA-PBD) worm motion to the electric field and the effective stiffening of the worms in an oscillating electric field are demonstrated.
