In-situ second-harmonic generation and luminescence measurements for structural characterization of ruthenium-polypyridine complex monolayers with two and four alipathic tails at the air/water interface
Article Abstract:
Structural differences in thin films made from two amphiphilic ruthenium tris(2,2'-bipyridine) homologues have been studied with in-situ second harmonic generation and luminescence measurements. Results indicate the monolayer structures are dependent on the number of alipathic tails. The four-tailed complex undergoes transition from Phase I to Phase II at a 30-40 mN/m region. The presence of the complex leads to tighter aggregation at higher surface pressures brought about by the aliphatic tails.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering from bare Zn electrode
Article Abstract:
Confocal Raman microscopy was used to observe potential dependent surface-enhanced Raman spectra (SERS) of pyridine adsorbed on a bare zinc (Zn) bulk electrode, and adsorption behavior of pyridine on zinc. Related SEM measurement was performed to obtain the morphological information of the roughened electrode for understanding the SERS mechanism on it.
