J- and H-aggregates of porphyrin-surfactant complexes: time-resolved fluorescence and other spectroscopic studies
Article Abstract:
The interactions between several water-soluble ionic porphyrins and a variety of ionic or neutral surfactants in aqueous solutions were investigated as a function of surfactant concentration. The premicellar surfactant-porphyrin aggregate was determined by fluorescence lifetime and anisotropy, absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy and resonance light scattering. The spectroscopic results were used to describe the premicellar aggregates as J-type, H-type or nonspecific aggregates.

Lyotropic mesophases of a fluorinated surfactant with a short nonionic polar head in water
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the phase behavior of a water-nonionic fluorinated surfactant system. The phase behavior was examined against a hydrogenated equivalent. Classical methods were utilized to obtain the phase equilibrium. Results indicated that the system featured reverse micellar, lamellar, cubic and sponge phases. In addition, the lamellar phase melted into two cubic phases during increases in temperature.
