Met-myoglobin association in dilute solution during pressure-induced denaturation: An analysis at pH 4.5 by high-pressure small-angle X-ray scattering

Article Abstract:

Synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) is applied to a model protein, met-myoglobin, in dilute solution during temperature- and pressure-induced denaturation processes at pH 4.5 and a new method is developed for analyzing SAXS curves. The thermodynamic parameters, p and T, are used to derive the met-myoglobin p, T phase diagram, which is in full consent with the corresponding phase diagram obtained by spectroscopic measurements.

A simple way to prepare PbS nanocrystals with morphology tuning at room temperature

Article Abstract:

A simple way to synthesize PbS nanocrystals with the ability to tune their morphology to spherical particles, dendrites, and nanorods at room temperature is described. The amines were used both as the catalyst and as the growth-control reagent, to demonstrate that the growth morphology of the nanocrystals could be controlled by using different amine or mixtures of capping groups.

Metabolic control of elastic properties of the inner mitochondrial membrane

Article Abstract:

A possible physical mechanism for inner mitochondrial membrane shape rearrangements is presented. The analytical study reveals that high transmembrane potential at the inner mitochondrial membrane brings about specific, substantial, and dynamic electrochemical contributions to lateral tension, bending rigidity constant, and elastic modulus of Gaussian curvature of the membrane.
