Negative differential resistance in electrochemically self-assembled layered nanostructures
Article Abstract:
The negative differential resistance (NDR) of layered nanostructures was examined by electrochemically constructing tunnel junctions based on copper metal and cuprous oxide from aqueous solution in an oscillating system. The layered structures were found to exhibit sharp NDR signatures at room temperature. Moreover, the NDR maximum transcends to a higher bias with a 1/L(super 2) dependence when the cuprous oxide thickness is reduced, where L is the Cu2O layer thickness.

Conductivity measurements of electrochemically oxidized Langmuir-Blodgett films of phthalocyaninato-polysiloxane
Article Abstract:
A study investigated the influence of electrochemical doping on dark electrical conductivity of phthalocyaninato-polysiloxanes Langmuir-Blodgett assemblies at room temperature. The dependence of the electrical conductivity of these polymers as a function of the degree of electrochemical oxidation differs significantly from the behavior found in crystalline monomeric and polymeric phthalocyanine materials. Other results are discussed.

Free-energy-driven transfer of charge in dense electrochemically active monomolecular films
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to show that a recently developed gas-phase assembling method, which produces robust dense monolayers of NTCDI (1,4,8-naphthalene tetracarboxylic diimide) covalently attached to the surface of silicon, allows one to overcome this scale limitation. These virtually insulating monolayers can be photochemically populated with cation radicals via ejection of electrons into semiconductiong base.
