Properties of Ti-beta zeolites synthesized by dry-gel conversion and hydrothermal methods
Article Abstract:
The properties of the Ti-beta zeolite synthesized by the dry-gel conversion method (Ti-beta-DGC) were investigated in comparison with the Ti-beta synthesized by the hydrothermal method (T-beta-HTS). Results showed that Ti-beta-DGC samples adsorbed less water than T-beta-HTS, which suggests that the former is more hydrophobic than the latter. It is proposed that this leads to a higher activity for Ti-beta-DGC in the oxidation of cyclohexane, which is interpreted in terms of high hydrophobicity of Ti-beta-DGC compared to that of Ti-beta-HTS..

Chemical vapor deposition of zinc in zeolite HY
Article Abstract:
The surplus zinc metal atoms are inhomogeneously distributed in the sample volume and associates with Zn(supe 2+) cations to low-nuclearity, charged zinc clusters, most probably Zn(super 2+)(sub 2). These clusters become unstable at temperatures above 450 degrees C, leading to removal of zinc metal atoms from the cages. These were gleaned from an examination of the concentration and distribution of Zn(super 2+) ions in zeolite Y in the presence of neutral zinc atoms, using thermodynamic and spectroscopic techniques.

Ab-initio-based transferable potential for sodalites
Article Abstract:
A mixed ab initio empirical method was utilized to describe the derivation of a potential energy function for the frame atoms and sodium ions in sodalite-type zeolites. The motion of counterions were also examined. The parameters of a simple functional form was applied to energies obtained from high-level ab initio calculations on small clusters. The findings demonstrate that the force field emitted accurate structure and infrared spectral predictions despite the large displacements in the frame atoms.
