Pulsed ENDOR at 95 GHz on the primary acceptor ubisemiquinone Q(sub A)(super -*) in photosynthetic bacterial reaction centers and related model systems

Article Abstract:

Davies-type pulsed (super 1)H electron nuclear double resonance measurements were carried out at a magnetic field of 3.4 T and a microwave frequency of 95 GHz (W-band). The small g-anisotropy of the semiquinone anion radicals could be resolved in frozen solutions by taking advantage of the increased electron Zeeman interaction at high field. The measurements were performed on a variety of randomly oriented semiquinone anion radicals in frozen alcoholic solution and on the primary ubiquinone anion radical, Q(sub A)(super -*), in frozen photosynthetic bacterial reaction centers of Rhodobacter sphaeroides.

Characterization of silica-supported Ni(I)-H2 complexes by electron paramagnetic resonance and their titration using CO adsorption measurements

Article Abstract:

An electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) method was used to determine the nickel deposition method that produces the highest Ni(I) amount after photoreduction. The total amount of Ni(I) derived by photoreduction was then measured using CO adsorption to compare the results with the EPR measurements. Results showed that both EPR and CO adsorption measurements were able to determine the nickel deposition method.
