Quaternary surface active agents: effective disinfectants
Article Abstract:
Quaternary ammonium surface-active disinfectants, also known as quats, are widely used in different industries due to its additional surface-active and wetting properties. Alkylbenzyldimethyl ammonium chloride (ABDAC), cetyl pyridinium chloride, and cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CETAC) are the commonly used quats. The properties, microbial activities, inactivation, toxicity, and the various applications of quats are discussed.
