Reaction of SO2 with cesium and cesium-promoted ZnO and MoO2
Article Abstract:
High-resolution synchrotron-based photoemission is used in studying the reaction of sulfur dioxide (SO2) with cesium (Cs) and with Cs-promoted ZnO and MoO2. Ab initio calculations were carried out to determine the adsorption of SO2 on Cs/ZnO(0001)-Zn and Cs/ZnO(0001)-O. The experiments were done at a ultrahigh-vacuum chamber at the National Synchrotron Light Source. Results indicated that metallic Cs reacts strongly with SO2 between 100 and 300 K. The alkali <--> oxide interactions between the Cs/ZnO and Cs/MoO2 systems are also very strong. SO2 reacts with the O sites of ZnO at 300 K, resulting in SO4 groups on the surface.

Mean first passage time for the contact between the ends of a chain polymer
Article Abstract:
The passage times for the contact between the ends of a Rouse chain is examined. The results are in better agreement with Brownian dynamics simulations results than those of previous theories.
