Standard partial molar volumes of aqueous glycolic acid and tartaric acid from 25 to 350 degree C: evidence of a negative Krichevskii parameter for a neutral organic solute
Article Abstract:
Apparent molar volumes were determined using a high-pressure vibrating-tube densimeter for aqueous solutions of glycolic acid (HGly = HOCH(sub 2)COOH) and tartaric acid (H(sub 2)Tar = HOOCCH(OH)CH(OH)COOH) at temperatures from 25 degree C to 350 degree C and pressure as 20 MPa. It was suggested that the Krichevskii parameter, A(sub kr) = lim(x(sub 2) -> )) (deltap/deltax(sub 2))(super c)(sub t,v), which describes the discontinuities in standard partial molar properties at the critical point of water, is negative and almost all aqueous nonelectrolytes are characterized by Krichevskii parameters.

Unusual behavior of atactic poly(methacryylic acid) in aqueous solutions monitored by wide-angle light scattering
Article Abstract:
A study on wide-angle light scattering is performed on the atactic poly(methacrylic acid), HPMA, in 0.002 and 0.1 M HCl at 25 and 55 degree in a wide concentration range. The main aims are to obtain the weight-average molar mass, the second virial coefficient, and the radius of gyration from light scattering measurements.

Osmotic and volume properties of stereoregular poly(methacrylic acids) in aqueous solution: Role of intermolecular association
Article Abstract:
The osmotic coefficients, ion binding and volume properties of isotactic, syndiotactic and atactic poly(methacrylic acid) (i-PMA, s-PMA and a-PMA) are studied. Light scattering measurements have confirmed the high intermolecular association tendency of PMA chains.
