Bioorganometallic chemistry of Ferrocene
Article Abstract:
The stability of the ferrocenyl group in aqueous, aerobic media, the accessibility of a large variety of derivatives, and its favorable electrochemical properties have made ferrocene and its derivatives very popular molecules for biological applications. Various bioconjugates of ferrocene with amino and peptides, proteins, RNA, DNA, and harmones and others are discussed.

New targets and screening approaches in antimicrobial drug discovery
Article Abstract:
Genomics has expanded the target base for new antimicrobials and the mutagenesis experiments in a variety of microbes have suggested that literally hundreds of proteins are indispensable for the growth of any given microorganism. Many developments that span new screens and targets for the next generation of antimicrobials are summarized.

Beta-strand mimetics
Article Abstract:
Few methods for fixing beta-strand conformation to produce potent enzyme inhibitors are discussed. Beta-strand mimetics are expected to find emerging uses in coming years in the design of compounds that can interfere with peptide/protein beta-strand aggregation.
