Chromium-catalyzed oxidations in organic synthesis
Article Abstract:
The oxidation reactions which were catalyzed by chromium compounds were reviewed. However, only those reactions which result to formation of new C-O and C=O bonds were discussed. The mechanisms for the reactions of the different oxidation state of chromium were elucidated. In addition, the general source of oxygen for these reactions were found to be tert-butyl hydroperoxide, air, oxygen or hydrogen peroxide.
