Infrared and Raman vibrational optical activity: theoretical and experimental aspects
Article Abstract:
Advances of both a theoretical and experimental nature have been made in infrared and Raman vibrational optical activity (VOA) and vibrational circular dichroism (VCD). Quality and size of ab initio calculations of VOA intensities and quality of step-scan Fourier transform techniques are the major areas for advances in VCD. Much progress has occurred in theoretical formulation and high-throughput instrumentation. Biological and pharmaceutical molecules are susceptible to applications of VOA. As control of molecular chirality improves, VOA will be more important as a diagnostic tool.
