Large-scale shape changes in proteins and macromolecular complexes
Article Abstract:
This review discusses experimental techniques that can be deployed for characterizing large-scale conformational shape changes in proteins, RNA, and other macromolecular complexes during their biological functions. Emphasis is given to the emerging small-angle scattering technique for elucidating the shape and quaternary structural characteristics of macromolecular assemblies.

Effective interactions between electric double layers
Article Abstract:
Recent advances in the theoretical and experimental aspects of interaction between charge-stabilized colloids en mass or in restricted geometries are reviewed. Discussion on colloidal dispersions of polyions of various shapes and ionic surfctant based micells, interactions between electric double layers of different polyions, and solvent effects is presented.

Generalized Born models of macromolecular solvation effects
Article Abstract:
A generalized Born model based on continuum dielectric principles is discussed with reference to molecular dynamic simulations of proteins and nucleic acids. Data on variations in the model such as pair-wise analytical forms for analyses of molecular mechanistics are examined.
