The daughter of modern socialism
Article Abstract:
Eleanor Marx, the youngest daughter of Karl Marx, led a difficult life. She found it very hard to reconcile the demands of work and parental duties, as do many women in modern society. However, she was successful in a number of different ways, according to speakers at a conference at the University of London, England, devoted to her. Before committing suicide in 1898 at the age of 43, she was involved in translation work, journalism, theatrical reviews, histories of socialism and editions of her father's work. She worked extremely hard to promote international solidarity.

Radio frequency quadrupole ion guides in modern mass spectrometry
Article Abstract:
Radio frequency (RF) quadrupoles have a role in modern mass spectrometer and tandem mass spectrometer systems. Much of the success in application of tandem quadrupole mass spectrometers and atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometers can be attributed to new applications of the RF quadrupole ion guide. Use of novel quadrupole designs for providing unique solutions to physical-chemical and instrumentation problems is possible because the ion containment properties of RF quadrupoles are not at all sensitive to accuracy of the electrode positions.
