Salt effects on Diels-Alder reaction kinetics
Article Abstract:
This review examines the effects of salt solutions such as solutions of lithium salts in diethyl ether (LPDE), in altering Diels-Alder reaction rates and product stereoselectivity. LPDE significantly enhances sluggish chemical reaction rates and this rate acceleration is due to an electrostatic catalysis by the clatherates of lithium salts in the solvent.
