Use of iodocompounds in radical polymerization

Article Abstract:

The synthesis and the use of iodinated derivatives involved in telomerization, iodine transfer polymerization (ITP), and reverse iodine transfer polymerization (RITP) are described. Iodocompounds are used in an industrial scale for the synthesis of various commercially available intermediates or products used as surfactants, fire-fighting foams, surface modifiers and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs).

Greener approaches to organic synthesis using microreactor technology

Article Abstract:

Microreactors consist of a series of small channels connected in various geometries that allow for the spatial and temporal manipulation of small amounts of fluids and reagents. Review is presented on the aspects of microreactors that make them efficient tools for organic chemistry on both small and large scale.

Cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate- A versatile single-electron oxidant

Article Abstract:

The article reviews the synthetic transformations mediated by cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN), which covers the literature from 1965 to 2006. It is found that that CAN acts as an efficient reagent for single electron oxidation.
