Manager's Workshop: Quality Assurance: Setting Information Standards
Article Abstract:
Quality assurance is an evaluative process in which attributes of a product are measured against agreed-upon for those attributes. Quality assurance ensures quality information by the use of three elements; policy, procedures, and measurement criteria. Policy is the responsibility of top management; thus the project relies on the statements and direction they set. Procedures consist of internal procedures, governing how each group will ensure the quality of information emanating from their department, and interface procedures, defining the interactions of various departments as information flows. Measurement criteria factors focus on reliability of the information, accuracy, integrity, usability and timeliness.

Manager's Workshop: Conduction an OA Feasibility Study
Article Abstract:
When conducting a feasibility study to justify an office automation strategy, a survey of work activity should be performed including an estimate of current costs and an understanding of time and other system constraints. Broad systems requirements must be identified and macro designs developed to meet them. Tangible benefits of displaced costs or increased revenues affect profits directly, but intangible benefits, such as improved quality of information, tighter security, better communications, decision making, and cost control, may increase profits more than the tangible benefits.

Manager's Workshop - Sharing Information Processing Equipment
Article Abstract:
In order to be cost effective, equipment must often be shared among several departments of a company. Data entry is the most error-producing and slowest step of the data processing process. The present solution to data entry problems are optical character recognition devices. In the future, these devices will be replaced by intelligent copiers and printers. Image processing is another area in which equipment must also be shared for cost effectiveness.
