Manager's Workshop: The Importance of OA Pilot Projects
Article Abstract:
Pilot projects are excellent procedures for testing and evaluating most facets of office automation. They help insure that a system meets the needs for which it is being considered. Technology matures largely through feedback that vendors receive from users during cooperative projects. A profile of the operation should be constructed before the test period. A statement of objectives would include determining cost effectiveness, assessing impact on employees, and setting up guidelines. Pertinent information such as problems, suggested changes and new uses should be documented during the test, which usually lasts from three to six months.

Manager's Workshop - Information Security: A Practical Approach
Article Abstract:
Data must be secured for two reasons: to maintain its integrity and its confidentiality. Data can be secured either physically or logically through passwords, encryption or fragmentation. Frequently, data is secured so tightly that it defeats its purpose. The proper people should be able to obtain access to it. Ultimately, the end user must decide the security priority and level.
