Using the Facsimile Machine For Fast, Low-Cost Communication
Article Abstract:
A facsimile system provides the user with fast, accurate and low cost communication for graphics information. The use of facsimile production has grown rapidly in Japan, indicating a nineteen per cent increase or $144.2 billion yen for the fiscal year 1982. Facsimile machines can be used as stand-alone equipment or part of a network operation. Ninety-five per cent of the facsimile units installed in Japan are operated with the telephone network. The connection of a facsimile terminal with a computer combines the transmission techniques of the facsimile communications network with the information processing and retrieval techniques of the computer. Various tables and charts indicate the services and configurations of facsimile equipment.
