'1 million pounds a month' if dome is late
Article Abstract:
The contract for the construction of the Millennium Exhibition building in London, England may involve penalties of one million pounds sterling for every month overdue on the completion deadline. WS Atkins, the exhibition project manager, will award the 49 million pounds sterling building contract early in 1997 for work to be completed during 1998. Atkins is considering the penalties carefully as the work involves a tight schedule but harsh penalties may prove to be a disincentive on the project and also be reflected in the price.
