Audit office slams Leeds D&B fiasco
Article Abstract:
The design, develop and construct method should not have been used for the 85 million pounds sterling, 39,000 sq mt Quarry House government office building in Leeds, England, according to a report from the National Audit Office. This approach gave the departments which were to use the building too little control over design, and this led in turn to a lack of office space in the finished building. It had been expected that cost savings would result from moving staff to the office, but these were reduced because it became necessary to rent additional space elsewhere.
