Article Abstract:
Direct marketing companies should adopt a policy of being absolutely clear regarding the means by which they gather and use their clients' personal information. Such a policy should help erase any lingering doubts about the safety of entrusting personally identifiable information to Internet- based companies. Direct marketers should bear in mind that consumers are willing to share such information provided they are convinced of the benefits they can derive from it and their continuing control over the imparted data.
