Article Abstract:
Housing associations in the United Kingdom are expected to receive a different amount of funding from the Housing Association Grant from the Housing Corporation according to their geographic location. Southern and Eastern areas of the country will receive more than others because of their measurement on the housing needs register. Housing associations have purchased over 200,000 homes since their introduction in 1989, with a further 20,000 homes expected in 1997.

Article Abstract:
Housing associations (HA) in the United Kingdom are turning to financial investment groups for long-term finance now that Housing Corporation funding is dramatically reduced. HAs prefer to borrow funds to develop, maintain and rent out properties in exchange for the property freeholds because they have reduced costs and enjoy fewer risks. Diagrammatic representations of the comparative financial systems are given.
