BTB leads French mail order sales
Article Abstract:
The French mail-order trade group FEVAD reported that total mail-order sales in France reached 70 billion francs in 1999. Consumer catalog sales accounted for 51 billion francs but it represents a mere 1.2% gain over 1998 sales. On the other hand, the business-to-business mail-order sector grew by 11.1% in 1999, reaching 19.4 billion francs. Experts cited strong market for housing and automobiles and strong competition from specialized chain stores for the poor performance of the consumer mail-order sector.
