Market study blasts German e-tailers
Article Abstract:
German electronic retailers fail to meet consumer demands, according to a study done by market research firm GfK Media Research. However, Michael Spohrer, CEO of GfK Media, pointed out that it was only in 1999 that German businesses seriously considered the Internet. Spohrer added that cybermalls sell mass market products that do not fit the German Internet style. Thirty percent of those surveyed by the study expressed an interest in buying shores or furniture but no German business has yet tried selling nonperishable food items.

German startups begin to flood the Web

New Internet companies are entering the German market, including traditional firms, which are either establishing online sites or creating Internet World Wide Web based subsidiaries. These companies clearly believe that they must establish an Internet presence before they get left behind by competitors. German firms which have already gone online include printer Ebner Ulm, which not only has an information site but also a subsidiary called e.com, DoubleClick and Novaville AG.
