Edinburgh has launching a new annual festival of architecture, building and design, Manifesto. It aims to provide a showcase for new ideas and a basis for debate in the industry. It has already attracted international interest in its first year. It was created out of the remains of the city's bid to become City of Architecture in 1999, which it lost to Glasgow.
