Boat industry to help assess safety efforts

The Coast Guard Auxilliary National Board (CAGNB) has created the Vessel Safety/Marine Dealer Steering Committee to assess the effectiveness of CAGNB's safety-outreach programs for preventing boating accidents. Aside from the Coast Guard and the CAGNB, the committee is comprised of representatives from several marine industry trade associations, including the Marine Retailers Assn of America, National Marine Manufacturers Assn, Marina Operators Assn of America and Personal Watercraft Industry Assn.

Travis expands line, adds Mercury outboard
Article Abstract:
Travis Boats and Motors Inc has expanded its Travis Edition product line by introducing Mercury Marine outboards in its store shelves. The Austin, TX-based marine dealership began offering Mercury Marine products at its 24 retail stores in mid-Nov 1998 after completing a multiyear agreement with Mercury, a division of Brunswick Corp. Travis Boats and Motors has a similar agreement with Outboard Marine Corp.
