Cold built-up roofing (BUR), a technology that was introduced in the late 1970s, is making a comeback in the year 2000. The roofing system, which failed to succeed during its initial run, has managed to address all of its previous shortcomings. Cold BUR systems have been mechanized in the application of both surfacing and adhesive. System manufacturers have also increased the availability of training programs to ensure the efficient and effective application of the roofing systems.

Ski resort gets a lift with metal

Royal Roofing Co Inc of San Jose, CA, was cited by Roofing Siding Insulation magazine for its metal roofing job at California's Squaw Valley Ski Resort. Earning first place in the New Construction, Recreational category is the company's installation of 26,000 sq ft metal roofing on the upper terminal building of the resort's new funitel. The roofing was installed at an elevation of 8,300 ft.
