Brown, Ross Llewellyn merge, seek to cross-sell services

Ross Llewellyn of Chicago, IL, the city's oldest advertising agency, has merged with Brown Integrated Communications, an integrated marketing company, to create the Ross/Brown Integrated Marketing Communications of Naperville, IL. Neil Brown, the managing partner of the new company, said the consolidation provides Brown Integrated with more clients as well as greater bargaining power with media and publishing companies. Brown Integrated, with has been actively involved with Internet promotions, direct marketing, database work and marketing consulting, and Ross Llewellyn both intend to cross-sell their services to each other's clients and position the new company as a full-service integrated marketing firm.

True North merges Modem Media, Poppe Tyson

True North Communications has recently combined two of its interactive agencies to form a single agency that will become its main digital marketing communications. The company has merged Modem Media, which employs over 200 people, and Poppe Tyson, which has 175 full-time employees. The new entity, called Modem Media.Poppe Tyson, will be headquartered in Westport, CT, where Modem Media is based. Modem Media co-founder and CEO, G.M. O' Connell, will serve as chairman and CEO of the new agency. Meanwhile, Poppe Tyson chairman and CEO Kevin C. Clark will assume the role of vice chairman.

Thompson, Phoenix form agency, eye auto industry

J. Walter Thompson Total Solutions Group and Phoenix Group have teamed up to establish a new agency called Phoenix Thompson Connect. The partnership allows New York-based J. Walter Thompson and Farmington Hills, MI-based Phoenix to combine complementary resources and enhance their existing relationships. The agency, which will be based in Detroit, MI, will continue both group's work with Ford Motor Co. and eventually move forward to capitalize on new opportunities in the automotive industry.
