Brunswick battling five antitrust suits
Article Abstract:
The marine industry's largest company, Lake Forest, IL-based Brusnwick Corp, is battling five antitrust lawsuits, the latest two being filed by a dealer and a boat buyer who each claim that Brunswick's business strategy artifically inflated stern drive- and inboard marine-engine prices. Legal experts say the five cases are noteworthy because each involve Brunswick's discount program as a major pint of dispute. They also noted that few such cases actually end in jury verdicts.

$133M reversal a major victory for Brunswick
Article Abstract:
The $133 million antitrust judgment against Brunwick Corp has been reversed by the 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals in St Louis, MO, on Mar 24, 2000. The three judges, which comprised the panel of the federal appeal court, have ruled favorably for Bruswick because they did not find enough evidence to justify the jury verdict declaring the boatbuilder guilty of illegally monopolizing the diesel sterndrive and inboard engine market.
