Certification requirements win board OK

The certification requirements for boat manufacturers, dealers and individual marine professionals have been approved by the NMMA. Dealerships and individuals working in sales and management will be certified depending on their qualifications. Dealerships has to show their ability to provide trained and capable staff to meet customer demands while individuals should have 16 hrs of sales and product training every two years. Manufactureres will be certified based on customer research and the Uniting the Boating Industry for Growth Action Plan for Manufacturers.

Robotics are key to new venture
Article Abstract:
Start-up firm Precision Shapes of Virginia Inc will manufacture plugs and molds for the boatbuilding industry using robotics technology. The firm, which was established by marine engineer Donald Blount, will use the RTS FlexMill robotics system produced by Robotic Technology System of Espoo, Finland. The FlexMill system will enable Precision Shapes to manufacture single-part molds and plugs that are bigger than those made by current technology.
