Travis adds six stores to its portfolio

Travis Boats and Motors Inc of Austin, TX, has disclosed plans of adding six stores to its operations, specifically in Arkansas and Florida. Travis has emphasized a boat show presence in its dealerships, something the firm is bent on continuing. Aside from opening additional stores, the marine retailer is also planning to remodel an acquired store located in Pine Bluff, AR. Travis' acquisitions in January 1999 have given the retailer 30 outlets, half of its goal of 60 stores in the South.

Boat Tree's IPO plans on 'permanent hold'

American Marine Recreation Inc, the parent firm of Boat Tree Inc of Orlando, FL, will not push through with a planned initial public offering (IPO) in May 2000. The company's Chmn, CEO and Pres, Joseph G. Pozo, Jr, who decided on the permanent postponement, said that pushing through with the IPO would not be a good move for the boat retailer's existing investors. American Marine was to have released 1 million shares of stock at $7-$9 a share in its IPO.
