Company launches its pet project

InnoPet Brands Corp. of Fort Lauderdale, FL, announced that consumers can now purchase its dog and cat food online or through a toll-free number. The company has created the direct channels to expand its marketing efforts as well as to respond to the demand not met by the sale of InnoPet Veterinarian Formula in 7,500 supermarkets in 20 states in the eastern United States. The company has sent mail pieces and distributed more than 800,000 packages containing samples of pet food, coupons, and materials promoting the website and toll free number. Respondents get to receive another sample and get their information listed into a proprietary database for future purposes.

Merrill Net Research to drive leads

Merrill Lynch, a New York-based full-service brokerage firm, will reportedly provide free access to its proprietary stock research online service located at its new Web site, www.askmerrill.com. The online research is commonly available only through brokers to existing Merrill Lynch clients. The free access will occur during a four month trial that begins Nov. 2, 1998. The brokerage firm intends to track down visits to the site to generate leads for its 14,800 brokers. Investors will be required to enter their names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers to sign up for a password that provides access to the stock research.

Service harvests NAICS codes online for BTB marketers

Network Marketing International LLC of Rochester, NY, is slated to launch a new Web site and Internet-based data-mining product in Sept. 1, 1998 that will provide the first NAICS-compatible sales leads online. NAICS stands for the North American Industry Classification System that was established in 1997 by the federal government to replace SIC codes used by business-to-business compilers and marketers for identification and targeting purposes. The company will enhance the new six-digit classification system on its revamped Web site that comes online on September with a new lead wizard feature for data-specific searches.
