Whole-life cost model
Article Abstract:
Tabular data indicates the whole-life costs of two differently-sized learning resource centres. These buildings are increasingly important in educational establishments, accommodating electronic media alongside printed materials. The fact that operating costs form an important part of educational finance increases the relevance of whole-life costing. Data relating to the 2,000 square meter learning resource centre for the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Farnham, England, gives the specifications and whole-life costs for this building.

Cost model update
Article Abstract:
Examples from different types of building project indicate current trends relating to building costs in the South-east of England. Each building type example includes all-in estimating rates and all-in cost planning rates. Factors affecting costs in the business park development sector, for example, include the quality of the design, fire regulations relating to the height of the first floor, and the decision about whether or not to include facilities buildings in the original design.
