Article Abstract:
The number of UK regional airport construction projects is set to increase by the year 2049 as the number of passengers is forecast to rise three-fold. Airport designers must consider several issues relating to safety, security, space allocation and passenger flows when drawing up plans for new airport buildings. Overnight accommodation facilities must also be included to cater for people needing the service. A newly constructed airport building would cost about 36 million pounds sterling in 1998.
