USPS tests software, prepares for new rates
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Postal Service has commenced with the testing of a commercial presort software so as to make sure that the products work in accordance with the newly written Presort Accuracy and Evaluation (PAVE) tests. The USPS earlier had to revise the PAVE standards to meet the requirements of the new rate. Mailers have to use PAVE-certified presort software to address, barcode and presort their mailings. By Jan. 10, 1999, presort software vendors must be PAVE-certified as new rates are set to be in effect by that time. Mailers have until the first of January 1999 to get their products tested by the postal service.
