Analysts say SmarTalk still strong
Article Abstract:
Analysts states that SmarTalk TeleServices' core business of providing prepaid calling card products remains bouyant even as discrepancy on the firm's accounting projects lower earnings. In September 1998, the company announced a delay in 1997 and 1998 earnings reports because of questions a group of independent accountants raised on how the firm accounted for its $30 million in acquisitions completed in 1997 and the subsequent restructuring charge. The delay caused the firm's stock prices to fall 57%. Analysts, however, remain optimistic in the company's strength and expect the stock to at least double in the next 12 months.
