How to beat recession
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom construction companies should reevaluate their future plans to ensure they are not over reliant on any sector of the industry which is likely to suffer badly in an economic recession. Finding a special market in which to specialize can help to open up new work opportunities. Making an effort to keep good relationships with partners and clients may also pay off in a downturn in trade. Construction workers must endeavour to learn new trades to help them become a more valuable asset to their employer. Building consultants should issue invoices each month to maintain their cash flow.

Lead times
Article Abstract:
The fall in workload for the UK construction industry has been reflected in the fact that lead times for 10 packages shortened in Oct 1998. The delivery period for piling declined by three weeks to four weeks, while lead times for drylining fell by one week to seven weeks. Lead times for suspended ceilings fell by two weeks to 15 weeks, while lead times also fell for general and specialist bespoke joinery. In contrast, lead times for structural steel rose by four weeks to 16, while lead times for precast concrete rose by one week to 14 weeks.

Cost model
Article Abstract:
The multi-functional nature of modern indoor sports arenas make it imperative to thoroughly work through the costings of each type of sport taking place within the stadium, its effect on other sports and maintenance costs. Many indoor arenas can be changed from running tracks to ice rings where sports, such as ice-hockey and ice-skating can be held. Seating of spectators is a major issue which changes with each different sport.
