Is JCT up to the job?
Article Abstract:
The Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) forms used widely within the British building industry have been under criticism for many years because they are seen as lengthy, sometimes irrelevant and usually have to be amended. The voluntary JCT organisation argues that it encompasses every aspect of the industry in its forms, which are widely used and recognised throughout the industry. Critics feel that the forms are not changed to keep up with changing requirements, although supporters argue that the forms are necessarily complicated because they reflect a complicated business.

Keep it going
Article Abstract:
The UK construction industry will face a difficult challenge when it comes to implementing the government's recommendations set out in the sustainable construction strategy of 1999. The industry will have to revise its use of non-renewal materials, ensuring all environmental requirements are met.
