It's sunny up North
Article Abstract:
There are significant regional variations in the performance of the UK construction industry. The pace of construction in Manchester, England, has slowed down slightly, while construction work in Liverpool, England, is set to increase. In the North-east, construction work is largely leisure-related. The main focus of construction work in the South-west is Bristol, England, while in the South-east and South coast, many residential schemes are attached to town-centre retail projects. In the East Midlands, the key growth area is Nottingham, England, where investment is being made in all sectors.

Warm patches and cold fronts
Article Abstract:
There are still strong regional variations in the performance of the UK construction industry. There has been some expansion in Nottingham, England, for example, while the industry continues to struggle in Leicester, England. Activity is picking up slowly in Scotland, but contractors are still having to tender on extremely small margins. There are also few signs of margins improving in the north-west. Growth in the construction industry in Leeds, England, is slowing down, and there are few signs of growth in Northern Ireland.
