In the North-east, construction work is largely leisure-related. The main focus of construction work in the South-west is Bristol, England, while in the South-east and South coast, many residential schemes are attached to town-centre retail projects. In the East Midlands, the key growth area is Nottingham, England, where investment is being made in all sectors.

Growth in the construction industry in Leeds, England, is slowing down, and there are few signs of growth in Northern Ireland.
