Talbots ramps up its efforts for fall

Talbots Inc's Fall Style '99 catalog mailings, done inhouse in cooperation with New York, NY-based Marke Communications, were mailed the week of Sep 6, 1999, to 1.5 million clients and prospects. Other efforts included in the company's marketing campaign are TV ads, direct response print ads and wrapped buses in Chicago, IL, New York, San Francisco, CA, and Boston, MA. Talbots posted $90.4 million in catalog sales for the first half of 1999, up 16% from year-ago period.

A&E Networks tries a new look for fall catalog
Article Abstract:
A&E Television Networks will launch a revamped fall catalog beginning Sep 1999 to about 1 million names in its house list and rented lists. The newly designed catalog was designed by New York-based AGA Catalog Marketing & Design, which replaced Plzynski & Associates of New York. The new 32-page catalog will test two different covers and will feature home videos of the cable network's programs as well as nonvideo-related products.

Hormel Foods Corp of Austin, MN, has launched an expanded gift catalog designed around the cult status of its luncheon meat product Spam. The catalog features a mix of Spam-branded apparel, hats, coffee mugs and assorted tschotchkes. The catalogs were mailed to its customers, current and retired workers, and stockholders.
