JCPenney rebrands catalog, reintroduces product

Plano, TX-based JC Penney Co Inc has revealed a new identity for its well known JCPenney Catalog, which will henceforth be called the JCPenney Big Book. The retailer said its customers have been instrumental in driving the change to a new name for the catalog. The new name will also be used online. JCPenney is also re-launching a complete line of Whirlpool brand appliances that will be advertised in the catalog and the Internet World Wide Web.

J. Peterman gets loan after banktrupcy filing
Article Abstract:
J. Peterman Co of Lexington, KY, has obtained a loan of $1.96 million from a primary creditor that would allow the bankrupt clothing and accessories retailer to operate through Feb 12, 1999. The company has earlier filed for Ch 11 bankruptcy protection because of liquidity problems and inventory pile-ups. The loan would enable J. Peterman to pay its 500 workers, pay its $235,000 debt to UPS and process returned and exchanged merchandise.

HSN partners with TNN, NASCAR

The Home Shopping Network has begun offering NASCAR-branded merchandise as part of a marketing agreement with The Nashville Network (TNN). Called 'TNN Motorsports Premiere,' the show featured guest appearances by NASCAR drivers and Daytona 500 reviews from the NASCAR CafE at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL. TNN, which has been very much involved in auto racing since 1990, has the license to broadcast over 50 live racing events in 1998.
