Joint certification for U.S., Europe OK'd
Article Abstract:
The National Marine Manufacturers Assn (NMMA) and the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) in late Nov 2000 reached an agreement that will allow inspectors to certify boats to both US and European standards in one process. This will take effect on Jan 1, 2001. Previously, US boatbuilders who export to the European market had to go through two certification processes, namely one by the NMMA and one by a separate contractor to get CE, or certified to enter Europe designation.
