K-Tel sells Finnish firm to focus on Western Europe

K-Tel International, a direct marketer of consumer products and music, has sold its subsidiary in Finland to Germany's Edel Music for $7 million. K- Tel's Finnish subsidiary was profitable, but the company wanted to concentrate on its operations in Germany, France and the Benelux countries. Edel, a huge international music company but without a presence in Scandinavia, is a perfect match for the Finnish firm.

Reader's Digest sells first foreign business
Article Abstract:
Reader's Digest Association Inc (RDA) has sold its entire business in South Africa to Heritage Holdings Ltd for an undisclosed amount. The deal includes magazine, books, videos, music and the office building in Cape Town. Under the deal, direct market Heritage will have a 15-year license to sell RDA products under the RDA brand name throughout South Africa on a royalty basis.
