Liz Claiborne throws Curve to Macy's

Liz Claiborne seeks to boost sales of its Curve fragrance at Macy's East Inc. stores by combining point-of-sale promotions with a 4 million-piece catalog campaign. The company expects the new promotion, which will give away a 1999 Mazda Miata, to garner a response rate of 10% to 12%. Meanwhile, other ongoing plans call for several Curve promotions, including one slated to drop in mid-September with Hecht's Department stores and one for later in 1998 with Filene's. Curve for Women line includes fragrances, body lotion, bath and shower gel, and more, while Curve for Men's line features after-shave, skin soother, hair and body wash, foaming shaving gel and massage oil spray.

Hanes airs program for T-ShirtMaker software

Hanes Printables Inc. of Winston-Salem, NC, a division of Sara Lee Corp., has rolled out its first infomercial promoting its two-year old Hanes T-ShirtMaker software on the shopping network QVC. The move had been aimed at boosting sales of the software targeting small office/home office market. The T-shirt making package includes a heavy duty T-shirt, two sheets of ink-jet transfer paper, a CD-ROM that contains 500 clip art graphics, 400 ready-made designs, 30 fonts and over 1,000 special effects. The company reportedly sold 1,200 Hanes T-ShirtMaker in 10 minutes on the shopping channel.
