Article Abstract:
Technological advancement since 1990 has improved the door closers market. The 2 top UK companies are Dorma and NT Door Controls. Hydraulic closers now have improved reliability and there are a wide range of finishes. Most problems with hydraulic closers are due to bad installation. Options include backcheck which prevents the door from being slammed open, delayed action closing and electromagnetic hold-open devices. Cam-action has resulted in the non-use of a double arm which improves the closer's looks.
