Midwest call center makes quick hit on European market

Transcom, an international call center management firm based in Carmel, IN, boasts of tremendous growth on the European market. The company has grown from having 40 employees, one client and one facility to having call centers in Luxembourg, Germany, Holland, Sweden and Norway as well as five call centers in Indiana. The company intends to open facilities in France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria in 1999. Transcom's area of expertise presently cover the communications, energy, high tech and entertainment industries. It uses the so-called skills based routing technology which recognizes the country the customer is calling from and directs the call to telesales representative best equipped with the country's language skills.

False claim prompts FTC to create ad guidelines
Article Abstract:
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced it for has drafted a set of guidelines that will govern marketers when advertising dietary supplements. FTC declined to give the release date of the guidelines, which was formulated after a two-year investigation on the alleged false and unsubstantiated health claims of Bogdana Corp. in an infomercial ad resulted in a settlement. Joel Winston, assistant director for advertising practices in FTC's bureau of consumer protection, noted that the FTC also intends to come up with a guidance piece to educate the supplement industry regarding the FTC law.
