Nasdaq warns Ashford.com about delisting

Nasdaq has warned online jewelry retailer Ashford.com that its stock could face possible delisting if its trading price would not rise to $1 per share by Jul 9, 2001. The stock has been trading for less than $1 since the middle of Feb 2001, and near 60 cents by the third week of Apr 2001. The company is mulling the buyback of some of its stock to boost investor confidence or could offer investors a reverse stock-split option. Ashford.com reported preliminary revenues of $14 million to $14.5 milion for 4th qtr 2000, ending Mar 31, 2001.

Gift card lets online shoppers pre-pay

Birthdaygift.com has unveiled the Anywhere Gift Card service that allows consumers to buy pre-paid credit cards from MasterCard. The Wilton, CT- based company said the service is geared as an alternative to traditional gift certificates, allowing consumers to shop in more than one store. The gift card can also be used online and offline, and can be ordered with a major credit card through Birthdaygift.com's Web site, or through the retailer's toll-free number.
